Sowell Ferris Architects was founded in 1995 by Rik Sowell as a full-service architectural firm built on thoughtful design and strong client relationships. In 2025, the firm introduced an updated name and identity as longtime partners Emily and Cody Ferris became owners. Today, Sowell Ferris Architects continues this legacy with a renewed focus on creative problem-solving and dedicated client service.

Rik graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington and has 45 years of experience in the architectural field serving in various roles. He founded Sowell Architects in 1995 and was instrumental in hundreds of successful projects in Central Arkansas. Rik retired in 2025, leaving a remarkable legacy defined by vision, leadership, and a commitment to generosity and service. His dedication continues to inspire our work today.

Cody was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture. He has over 17 years of experience in the architectural industry serving a multitude of clients in the public and private sector. Cody has an eye for design and his hands-on construction experience make him a valuable asset to the team.

Emily is a Conway native and Valedictorian of her graduating class at the University of Arkansas School of Architecture. She has over 18 years of experience practicing architecture throughout the state of Arkansas. Emily strives to produce thoughtful, efficient designs that meet and exceed the desired end use and client expectations. Her strong work ethic and attention to detail continues to shine throughout her professional work.

J.T. completed his Drafting and Design degree from the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton and joined our team in 2024. Avery grew up in Lavaca, Arkansas and recently graduated from UCA with her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. Avery has 4 years of experience in the design field, working hand in hand with clients. She believes in the importance of universal design and creating spaces that meet the unique needs and wants of each client.

Rachael grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in May 2025 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. She brings early experience in the design field and enjoys supporting projects through digital renderings, construction documents, and construction administration. Rachael believes that each space has the ability to positively impact the lives of its users and strives to create environments that exceed expectations.
